Style Guide

Comparisons

Strengths
Weaknesses

·      Preview of design on home page from slide show of images
·      Portfolio list of categories: tailoring, kidswear, menswear, etc
·      Every category provides an intro and images to support
·      Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn buttons
·      About me & contact page
·      No resume
·      Not a definite idea of what the designer’s style is. List of categories can display versatility and range, but it can also be confusing in determining what type of designer she is.
·      Sole image to represent design aesthetic on home page
·      Portfolio page separated into three sections: illustrations, designs, and footwear
·      Portfolio page consist of images that has further detail once clicked
·      Bio & contact page
·      No links to social media
·      Images of design could be better organized.  It’s hard to tell what design belongs to which collection.
·      No resume

Week 1 Homework

Hi,

My name is Judy and I am in the Fashion Design program.  I was born in California, but I grew up in the Tri-Cities of Southeastern Washington.  I moved up to Seattle about five years ago and plan to stay after graduation. I think the apparel industry here will grow so I want to stick around for that and I do like the environment in Seattle so that is just a plus. Currently I am working part time at Abercrombie & Fitch in downtown.  I recently got an internship with a surface designer in Ballard so I am really looking forward to that.  I chose fashion design because I can see myself doing this for a long time.  I like all aspects of fashion design, but after graduation I would like to work towards becoming a technical designer to begin.

Thank you,

Judy Chu
